Let's Learn Dialects!

Let's Learn Dialects!
The common issue that happens in between the old and young generation in Singapore is generation gap. Communication barrier and lack of interaction among the generations would be the main factors that widened the gap.

I believe dialect is in a form of cultural identity and heritage. Dialects should be preserved and passed on to the young generations. In order not to let the culture die out, I would like to get the young Singaporeans to learn their own cultural roots or identities. Introduce the language of dialects to them and get them to learn and speak.
When grandchildren and grandparents share the same language, it will break the language barrier and save a lot of troubles during conversations. It will close the gap between the old and young generations.

During the festive period of Chinese New Year in Singapore, what the families and friends will do when they get together is gambling. This is the only time when everyone gather together and have fun. Blackjack is often played and poker cards are used. This set of language cards served as poker cards, the youths would find the word on the card strange while playing because they do not understand. At this moment, the older family relatives who know how to speak dialects can teach them what is on the card and teach them how to pronounce the word. Youths will have fun playing the game and learning dialects at the same time.
